Grandpa Chuck has the touch for Drop Shotting the Big Smallies!

Grandpa Chuck has the touch for Drop Shotting the Big Smallies!

What a beautiful site to see! BASS boats covered the horizon at Fairport harbor saturday June 28th for the opening of the bass season on Lake Erie. It was also the first trip of the year with my father-in-law out to a place he introduced me to years ago. We found the smallies from 8 foot of water all the way out to 25 feet and they were eating the drop shot baits like mad! We met a few very nice anglers from The Grand River Bass Club while on the water. They were very wiling to let us fun fish right in the same areas they were competitively fishing in. We thank them for that. With any luck we will share their days tournament results with you when they come available. What I can share with you is a 5 fish limit of 19lbs for our best fish of the day. With Chucks big bass weighing in just a hair under 5 lbs. It was a nice mixture of numbers and weight. Landing 26 fish with that kind of weight makes for a very fun day on the lake!
