Nice Kicker fish puts us in 7th place for the day. Not too shabby for my first tournament as a boater going up against Ohio’s best anglers!

First 8 Hour BASS Tournament as a Boater in the X-Series at Mosquito Lake was a success.

The Rainy 6:30 launch before the sun came up was made safe and comfortable with a little help from two of our favorite product lines. Stormr Rain Gear kept us dry and Bluewater LED gave us the light to rig our gear and boat safely.

The rain slowed to a drizzle for my first real blast off! Nerves were very calm knowing we were boat 2 of the 69 boat field. My game plan was in place after spending the last few weekends with family and friends at the lake. The Fishin Magician Aka Greg Stollings was going to ride along and keep me focused to try and catch a nice 5 BASS limit!

Before I forget, thank you for passing me so kindly to the two big 250 HP 21 footers that blew by me on the right and left sides about mid lake as we were running to our first spot!

First spot produced one small fish I actually threw back without even measuring. Greg told me later in the day that first fish was probably a keeper….. we laughed and kept fishing. Spot #3 was the spot to be. By 8 am we already had a limit. By no means an easy day but Greg started upgrading our little fish with 2lbers and we fished every strand of grass and every rock on that spot to come away with a 7th place finish and a 11.45lb bag of fish. As Tommy would say, “Nice Bag of FIsh!” The check to pay for the day on the water was a nice touch too!

The icing on the cake was my biggest largemouth from Mosquito almost 4lbs and a Big muskie over 48″ that ate my hand poured Verbinator Donkey on the first cast! Yes I hooked this fish on very light line and a very small hook with the Verbinator plastic bait. Check out the video, only thing missing was the jump the fish made straight out of the water right next to the boat!
